GAUGE REPAIR

The gauges on the Porsche are some of the most important tools on the car. They are your warning signals of a possible catastrophic engine meltdown or as simple as running out of gas. Over the years senders go bad, needles stick, lenses get scuffed or hazed, etc. Why not get them looking and working like new again. We can have your gauges repaired in a reasonable time with much less cost than purchasing a new unit. We can also have the faces color changed to personalize your interior.

boostgauge
BOOST GAUGE AND HOSE

The VDO boost gauge that replaces the clock on a 930 has been out production for many years. NHS makes a beautiful reproduction of this gauge that fits perfectly in place of the clock.  For 930’s with a brake booster we have a hose that adapts to it so no need for a long hose running to the back of the engine.

intercoolergauge
INTERCOOLER TEMP GAUGE

Checking the before and aft temperature of the intake air on an intercooler is now possible with the dual temp gauge. One flip of the switch and the difference is calculated instantly. Comes complete with gauge, wire harness and 2 temp probes. Single temp version is also available.

3pin6pincdbox
REBUILD 3 PIN AND 6 PIN CD BOX

The capacitor discharge unit (CD unit) on 911 engines are getting old and failing now. You could pay up to $2700.00 for the 3 pin CD box for a points type distributor engine and around $2100.00 for an exchange unit from Porsche. We can get them rebuilt for much less or if you need it sooner than the time it takes to get yours done we can send an exchange unit.

twinplugdistributor
TWIN PLUG CONVERSION

Twin plugging the motor is a performance option which significantly improves combustion efficiency. The dual spark ignites uniform combustion within the chamber significantly increasing power and smoothness throughout the power band and at the same time improving gas mileage. While this conversion will improve the performance of any motor, it is strongly recommended for engines with displacement increases to maximize the combustion potential of the larger pistons. The twin plug ignition has been used in race application since the mid 1950's and became a standard factory performance feature for normally aspirated 911's. With the advent of the normally aspirated 964 and 993 twin plug was standard on the engines.  The twin plug conversion requires the use of a breakerless ignition distributor from a 911SC; Or 930 applications through 1989. The existing distributor is converted to use a Bosch 12 plug distributor cap and rotor. For 911 Carrera's from 1984 to 1989 a signal splitter is used with the 964 or 993 distributor.

twinplugcaprotor
TWIN PLUG CAP AND ROTOR

Bosch stopped making their twin plug cap and rotor over a decade ago. ANDIAL couldn’t let the twin plug program nor the cars currently with twin plug on the road become obsolete. ANDIAL stepped up and had the caps and rotors made by a US manufacturer. A great product from a US manufacturer.

(Caps are currently in stock, rotors are about October ’09)

AFTERMARKET CD BOX

The twin plug ignition system for the points distributor engine, 911SC, and the 75-89 930 need two CD boxes for the system to work. Price for two new units could set you back over $4000.00 alone. The PRO10R is a fantastic digital CD unit replacement for the old analog CD boxes at 1/3d the price. ANDIAL can also supply the wire harness to work with the engine.

signalsplitter
SIGNAL SPLITTER 84-89 911 CARRERA

There is only one way to twin plug the Carrera engine properly and that is with a signal splitter. Running two transformers (“coils”) from the DME (the engine management computer) will result in a fried DME. We learned this the hard way. The only solution to make it work is to send final output signal to the Signal Splitter which will then amplify the signal and split it safely to the two transformers. Will also need to use a 964 or 993 distributor.

signalsplitter
SIGNAL SPLITTER 993BT

The 993BT comes standard with a single plug ignition. When ANDIAL created the 993BT 3.8 engine project we knew that in order to extract the most efficient amount of HP we would need to twin plug the engine. We started off with an aftermarket DME (control unit) to run the ignition. After some teething problems we had it worked out. The problem later down the road was that the company that made the aftermarket DME did not support the product anymore. (Have you heard this before with an after market product you bought somewhere?) We decided to try the 84-89 signal splitter modified to work with a factory DME and program to compliment the 3.8 engine and its peripherals. Not only did it work but since we were using a Bosch DME the car ran smoother also. This is the only way to use a factory DME and twin plug ignition safely.

Twin plugging would also need a 993/964 distributor and fabrication work to fit. Contact us for details.

MISCELLANEOUS

ANDIAL carries a large range of electrical parts from bulbs to speed reference sensors. If it is not on our shelf we have many resources to hunt down the part.
